I am sure most of us have memories of having freshly squeezed fruit juice from one or the other shop, van or ‘thela’. The tantalizing experience of the juice running down parched throats never failed to send the taste buds into a frenzy of boundless joy as we craved more of the sweet, cooling, and refreshing liquid.
However, for those of us in South City 1, who still preferred to ditch the fruit for its juice, and patronized Raj Juice Corner opposite the Arcade in the market, the sweet dream was shattered. Earlier this month, a resident of A Block posted a video to Sagar Bhola (A -272) depicting the addition of a questionable coloured powder to the pomegranate juice. On a prior occasion, on being questioned about the rich colour of the juice, the owner had said he added beetroot juice to enhance the colour. This time, Sagar said he complainedto the Food Department of Haryana. Be that as it may, I doubt if any juice would be squeezed out of the owner of the shop. As per another Resident who happened to pass by the shop sometime later, business was back to its normal pace.
Nevertheless, we should be wary of having fruit juices from shops where the juice is not so sweet after all.
