In the heart of Noida, Sector 75 – laid a promise unfulfilled for a decade. The green belt behind Indosam, a symbol of nature’s serenity amidst the urban hustle, remained a distant dream for the flat buyers. But one resident, Saurabh Saxena, took it upon himself to turn this dream into a reality, leading a relentless battle against bureaucracy, apathy, and unkept promises.
Saurabh’s journey began with a simple yet powerful idea – to transform the barren land into a lush green oasis, fulfilling the commitment made to the residents. For ten years, he navigated the complex web of Noida Authority, politicians, and builders, advocating for the green belt’s development. His tenacity and meticulous follow-up became the catalyst for change, putting immense pressure on the responsible stakeholders.
The turning point arrived when Saurabh’s efforts compelled the Noida Authority to take action. Collaborating closely with Mr Amit, Director of AIMS Max, they entrusted the green belt development to the Noida Authority. This partnership marked a significant step toward realizing the long-pending project.
What sets this initiative apart is the involvement of NGOs, leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for plantation activities. Abhinav, a seasoned program manager associated with an NGO, brought his expertise from the corporate world, ensuring the project’s smooth execution. Their involvement not only accelerated the development process but also showcased the power of community-driven change.
During discussions with stakeholders, plans unfolded. A jogging track circled the boundaries, a central walkway weaved through the heart of the green belt, and a pond near JM Aroma Corner added to the natural allure. The careful selection of tall, medium, and short trees promised a diverse, sustainable ecosystem.
In a notable breakthrough, Saurabh’s plea to nurture the saplings until maturity was embraced. Responsible parties committed to safeguarding and replacing plants that didn’t survive, ensuring the green belt’s longevity. Temporary fencing protected the newly planted saplings, a testament to the project’s meticulous planning.
Crucially, the project didn’t exclude the very community it was meant to serve. Saurabh advocated for Indosam residents’ active involvement in the plantation drive, a request that found unanimous agreement from the Horticulture Noida Authority, AIMS, and the associated NGOs. This inclusive approach not only fostered a sense of ownership among residents but also strengthened the community’s bond.
As the first mango saplings were gently placed into the soil, the air was thick with anticipation and hope. The once barren land was on its way to becoming a thriving greenlung for the community. This initiative stands not just as a testament to Saurabh’s unwavering determination but also as a shining example of what can be achieved when a community unites for a common cause.
In the heart of Sector 75, amidst concrete and steel, a green revolution was born – a testament to the power of perseverance, collaboration, and the unwavering spirit of individuals like Saurabh Saxena.
