Golf city plot 8 witnessed it’s first elections in December 2022 and formed an Apartment Owner’s Association for the first time. Innumerable challenges lie ahead of any AOA, but GC 8 is way above these. The builder has not completed the project as yet and refuses to work as well. Residents have been living on promises by the builder for last 6 years and were totally hopeless during COVID. AOA has given new hopes to these dying aspirations.
In the last 4 months, GC 8 has seen many positive changes. Lifts were a major problem area and new AMC has been signed. Change of security agency is another bold step, with the new agency bringing in guards and promises of better vigilance. Outer walls of the society were in pathetic condition and repair and paint job has started. It is one of the most desired job on residents’ mind. Plumbing has improved a lot . There were many leakage issues in basement area which are addressed promptly. A new transformer has been added to the electric system, giving hopes of a bearable summer ahead. Many user-friendly apps are active on residents’ mobile phones. Housekeeping agency is changing as well this month. CCTV cameras are being installed within the campus and inside lifts.
While these are few positive notes, there are many big challenges that lie ahead. Biggest is the illegal market of Golf City plot 8. There have been fire incidents earlier due to the eateries operating right beneath the flats. There has been an attack on AOA members from few market shop owners while opposing the illegal status of the entire area. This is a green belt and a gate for 2 tower residents. The boundary wall of the market could not be completed. The whole plan has been muddled with and residents were left in lurch. At least with AOA in place, we are expecting a better life here.
Basement 2 is not ready yet and there is a parking space crunch. Rain water harvesting system is totally missing in the plan and as per the AOA president; it is huge challenge for them as well.
Nonetheless, first year of any AOA is tough. And in a society like GC8, tougher ! Still, inch by inch, we are moving ahead and we hope to see a sea change in the coming months. This should have an effect in the sector as well!
