A General Practitioner in medical terms is a physician who treats acute and chronic illnesses and provides preventive care before referring them to a specialist. DLF 2 is a big colony and has many Doctors as residents but unfortunately, the list of family GP is too short and restricted. Almost every day there is an enquiry for a GP in the area.
Covid brought new ways of learning and interacting and video calls with Doctors became a norm. It was a doable thing during the lockdown but in actuality, one needs a Doctor who can see the patient and only after a physical meeting can the treatment be advised.
A few days ago a senior couple living by themselves needed to see a GP urgently. Mrs Mehndiratta ji contacted some volunteers of All Is Well, ( a group which takes care of all needs of the seniors in DLF2) her husband was running a fever, congestion and cough. They wanted to see a GP at the earliest. Sadly none of the GP was available out of the 2-3 in phase 2, as they work only in the evenings. Uma Sanjivanee is a small hospital with emergency services and a Doctor but the waiting and appointment take a lot of time. Nidhi Taneja a volunteer with AIW managed to book an appointment with a GP in Sushant Lok 1 and the couple had to go there to see the Doctor. Mrs Mehndiratta was thankful for the timely help but strongly felt that the residents, RWA and authorities must make a request and the services of good and competent GP must be made available for the residents of DLF 2.
This incident made us think that we badly need an excellent Polyclinic with Doctors and specialists especially GP who can be available during morning hours and also for emergency home visits, especially for seniors or serious patients. It’s not just for patients, a GP is needed if one needs a fitness certificate for work, college or driving license etc
There is a marked area for a clinic in P Block but it has not been functional for long. It would be a humanitarian sewa if a few Doctors could come up with a clinic and be available morning and evening for the benefit of residents and it will surely benefit them too.

Very true there’s an urgent need of a polyclinic. General physician whose easily approachable would be a great help.
It’s so true that there is a need of doctors who are approachable and available on time.
