Nagar Kirtan Yatra to Commemorate 556th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

In their endeavour to involve the local community and the enthusiastic response of residents in the past years in welcoming the Nagar Kirtan Yatra in memory of Guru Teg bahadur Ji’s Balidan, this year too the Gurudwara Management invited office bearers of Pan GK RWA’s and requested them to actively participate in the Nagar Kirtan Yatra commemorating Guru Nanak Dev Jis Parkash Purab. The RWA representatives offered to set up refreshment stalls en-route eight blocks of GK-I and M-Block Market.

Nagar Kirtan, led by the Panj Payaras and the Holy Granth Sahib in a beautifully decorated rath, was taken in a procession with full gaiety and reverence for residents to seek blessings at their doorstep. The route map and refreshment stall position were shared in WhatsApp groups so that the Yatra could proceed seamlessly in the given timeframe without inconveniencing anyone.

The yatra started at 7 am, led by the Panj Payaras, and was a sight to behold. The procession stopped briefly at various refreshment stalls set up by RWAs. The talented children of Mata Gurjari School displayed their marshal skills enroute to the beat of drums. In a welcome and much -needed innovation, a troupe of children carried placards displaying creative messages of social responsibility on current important themes.

The turnout was much larger this year; over fifteen hundred people joined the Holy Occasion. Kudos to all the RWAs for setting up refreshment stalls to welcome the devotees and the Gurdwara Management for clockwork precision and timely movement.
