My Cute Padosi

“Aapke paon dekhe, bahut haseen hain, inhe zameen par mat utaariyega, maile ho jayenge”- this good old classic dialogue from the film Pakeezah reminds me not of Meena Kumari, but my elite furry neighbor Milo, who is driven around daily to the dog park that is at a walking distance. He happily plonks himself in the car’s back seat while his human mom plays chauffeur.

A dog quite unlike other dogs, this little chap is a tough nut to crack. It is not easy to get into his good books and one has to pass several rounds of agnipareeksha to do so. If personalities had flavors, Milo would be coconutty- hard on the outside, but a softie at his core. Like a stereotypical alpha male, he has trouble expressing the softer emotions. When he scrunches his nose and bares his razor sharp canines, one would be predisposed to think that he is about to bite, but no, that is his way of blushing when he sees his favorite people. If he loves you, he’ll use his leash to wrap you in a chakravyuh of his love, so you can never leave.

Just like Chennai Express had the infamous ThangaBali, us Indraprastha niwasis have ThangaMilo. Better not cross his path when he has ‘don’t angry me’ written all over his face! His anger can put a raging bull to shame. He is not a police K9, but sure acts like one. He is hyper vigilant to the tiniest of movements and can hear the most inaudible of sounds. He makes sure to alert all of us on the 8th floor whenever someone comes and goes. He takes his job very seriously, and we are all better off because of him.

Happy Birthday in advance, Milo baba!
