Mushrooming Nostalgia

This year’s monsoon has brought many gifts: long traffic jams, pools of stagnant water after heavy rain and puddles with smaller showers One interesting thing is the appearance of mushrooms in the parks. They seem to be mushrooming in all sizes. The older generation may remember calling them “Saap ki Chhatri” but children these days are smart enough to know it is just a kind of fungi. Some residents feel nostalgic, missing those paper boats in the pools of water. As one resident exclaims with a sigh, “Suna hai kagaz ki kashti banane wale ab bade hog aye hai”. As the famous Jagjeet Singh ghazal goes, “Ye daulat bhi le lo…”
