Multiple Point Connection In High Rise Societies

While we were having the Samvada meeting, an issue of multiple point connection came up. Most of the participants agreed that there has been a lot of confusion and chaos related to the matter. Since our AOA had taken up the matter in detail, I was requested to give a write up to clarify a few points for the sake of our readers. So here they are. About 4 year back the UP Government had decided to change SPC (Single point connection) to MPC (Multiple point connection) in high rise societies. The salient features of this MPC policy are as follows.

To change over to MPC, 51% residents of any society have to give in writing if they want to change over from SPC to MPC. But after about six months based on feedback / difficulties faced this rule was reversed and at present more than 51 % residents have to give in writing for holding the SPC if they don’t want to change their society’s electrical connection to MPC. Individual residents have to bear the meter and installation cost which is approximately Rs 20600/- . The internal infrastructure of electrical distribution will be maintained either by builder or AOA as earlier vide a tripartite agreement between PVVNL, Builder / AOA and Radius agency. The Radius agency will be maintaining all the meter related data energy consumption units in UPPCL apps and all electricity bills will be paid to Radius in advance. MPC meter will be prepaid meter only and Radius will pay money to PVVNL. At present there is a common meter in societies installed by PVVNL called SPC meter. Difference of society meter reading and all flats of society MPC meter reading will be the common area society consumption for lift, common water pumps, STP pumps and street lights etc. and these charges will be deducted from each meter on a pro rata basis.  After MPC meter installation each resident will get a login ID and password to log in UPPCL Xenius app which will be maintained by an authorised agency. Each resident can check the status of their account through an app and residents can recharge their account through the same app. Residents will be charged Rs 12/- for each recharge transaction. The app will also show whether the house is receiving grid or DG supply.   There are two channels in the MPC smart meter. One channel will be used to record PVVNL supply data and another channel will be recording DG supply data. You have to charge your DG account separately through UPPCL app only and DG records will be maintained by Radius only. Radius will charge some amount to maintain DG records. All money collected against DG heads will be returned to either builder or AOA and as per agreement as all DG expenditure will be borne by builder or AOA.

After taking into account the above salient points the residents can take an informed decision regarding MPC.
