MR Mangalam World School GK-2, in association with GK2 WA, organized an Anti-Cracker and Green Diwali Campaign in GK-2 on the morning of Saturday, 22nd October`22. The students of the school went around some of the strategic locations inside the colony raising slogans and displaying banners in support of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. Their march, which started from the school at 10.45 AM culminated at the GK-2 Main M Block Market, near the Police Booth, where the students staged a street play highlighting the significance of celebrating a cracker free and environment friendly Diwali.

The local police and traffic police personnel were present in full force throughout the event in order to regulate the traffic as well as to facilitate smooth pedestrian movement on the affected route. Mr Ritesh Kumar, SHO CR Park Police Station, also attended the event to encourage the students in this campaign. He urged the students to spread the message of celebrating Green Diwali in the vicinity of their homes too and advised them to report any incident of cracker bursting to their local police. GK2WA Members too lent their support to the school students in their quest to promote Clean and Green Diwali and arranged for light refreshments for the students.

Speaking to Samvada, Armaan Yadav and Shreyank Jaipuria from KR Mangalam World School articulated their concern for the rise in the air pollution levels in Delhi NCR around Diwali and hoped their initiative would contribute in reducing the level of pollution and would go a long way in promoting the UN Sustainable Goal for developing sustainable cities and communities.
