Road Safety Organization holds monthly lectures on various subjects , which can improve and help in decreasing road accidents.
This time on 25th April, the subject of discussion was crash data collection. Up to 17-5-24, total accidents were 11,15,950 causing 3,57,680 fatalities (32.1%), grievous injuries 3,56,830 (32%) & simple injuries 2,68,650 (24%)
Further it was observed that 75 were 2 wheelers and reasons observed were wrong side driving, over speeding, zigzag driving, red light crossing and not wearing helmets etc.
In 4 wheeler’s drivers behavior is most important – Not following traffic rules. In case of truck drivers – long hours of driving, lack of rest, effect of heat, wrong overtaking, careless driving, driving under influence of alcohol and drunken driving, poor eyesight etc. In tractor trolleys – using as means of transport, government nurse of roads is observed as important causes. Actions have already been initiated to rectify the same.
Motorcycle ambulance: manufacturing of a new brand of motorcycles which will not start until the helmet is worn, two wheelers to be provided with airbags and generating awareness among drivers.
Let us all not take it as job of authorities only we must participate in doing a duty in preventable human loss by accidents.
