Residents of DLF Phase 2 have raised serious concerns over the increasing monkey menace, which is creating fear and discomfort in their daily lives. Numerous incidents of aggression, property damage, and physical harm have been reported, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
One resident shared a frightening experience where a troop of monkeys nearly attacked her on the balcony, damaging her plants and property. Another incident involved a woman being held by a monkey while walking, only to be saved by nearby guards. Additionally, a domestic worker was severely bitten by monkeys while drying clothes, resulting in traumatic injuries requiring medical attention.
Monkeys have reportedly damaged water pipes, dirtied balconies, and shown no deterrence to measures like langur posters. Despite the gravity of the issue, residents feel neglected by authorities, expressing frustration over the lack of proactive measures from Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and local management bodies.
Residents are demanding stricter actions, such as setting up dedicated shelters for monkeys and prohibiting feeding them in public spaces. It is essential to address this issue collectively to restore safety and harmony in the neighborhood. Immediate intervention by authorities and awareness among residents is crucial to mitigate the growing menace.
