Residents of DLF 1 are facing increasing challenges posed by the local monkey population. This situation has escalated from a minor nuisance to a significant concern for residents and local authorities alike.
A lot of residents have been complaining of regular scary encounters with monkeys. In one such incident, the monkey entered the house, had a hearty breakfast of bananas and apples and left. The resident couldn’t do much when the monkey came because he got really angry when he was shown a stick to leave.
In another incident from E block, the monkey uprooted the entire terrace vegetable garden which was planted with immense love and hard work.
A lot of times it was also reported that these monkeys break the PVC pipes which connect to the water tank, restricting the water supply and creating a big problem.
Multiple times these cases have been reported to the authorities but there is hardly a solution till now. We have taken over their natural habitat, therefore making it difficult for them to rehabilitate. The most viable option, till there is something better, is to peacefully co-exist with them.
