An elderly uncle in his late seventies was found roaming near BVM Gate no 2. He was lost and had no clue of his address. When the guards at the gate enquired, he said he had shifted recently. QRT took him around Phase 2, but he wasn’t able to recollect anything.
It had been over two hours that he had been missing. The security team made him sit in the security office.
But here comes the power of social media. His picture was circulated in phase 2 social media groups and within minutes the message was viral.
The news reached his family from Vilas and they came and picked him up. It was a happy ending. But we have to be careful with our elders, such carelessness can lead to accidents and suffering.
If an elderly person is going alone on a walk the family can make sure there is a visiting card or handwritten phone no in his pocket or phone.
During the conversations in the groups, a resident suggested that people who are prone to forget addresses due to any medical condition can be given a steel wristband (kada) with their name, address, and contact number.
