Brownie, our lane’s much-cared-for stray, faced a near-end experience while trying to get a little too cozy. The dog got stuck in a manhole drain pipe left open by an under-construction site of a DLF builder in Q7.
Nish Wadhwa, residing in Poorvi Marg, was informed by the guard, and he came immediately. He called pillar to post to QRT and police and DLF estate office personnel, highlighting the negligence and getting immediate attention to rescue the speechless being. A few more residents from the lane also stepped out with worry.
Around 1.45 am, the fire workers with their truck equipment came to the rescue. The cemented area over the drain pipe was broken down and made spacious enough for the dog to wiggle out on its own slowly.
It was 3 am by the time Brownie could finally step out, his cry echoing in the air.
Salute to the unwavering diligence of the residents and all service personnel who stepped up to the rescue all through the night.
