A meeting was called on 29th Sept 2022 by CEO Noida (Ritu Maheshwari) and officials of Noida Metro Rail Corp (NMRC). It was attended by me and some representatives of villages
and other societies of Jaypee Wishtown. It was to finalize the route of Metro connecting sector 142 with the Botanical Garden. NMRC was having two options as per the given drawing.
I emphasised on below points and requested that the Metro must be laid along with the expressway (route 1, in red colour). I also requested, if metro stations of Route-1 are on the other side of the Expressway, they must plan to have overhead Foot over bridges connecting to this side of the Expressway. Most of the attendees also supported this.
• Approx. 30K+ flats are going to build on this side.
• This side has 2 major universities (Amity and Jaypee) and many Schools.
• IT zone and many corporate offices already operational and many more to come.
• There is no planned public transport facility for Jaypee Wishtown residents.
• Route 1 along with Expressway will be a direct straight route from Greater Noida. Therefore it will take minimum time to commute from Botanical Garden to Greater Noida. Any deviation in route will increase this travel time and will risk of losing Metro Ridership, as earlier in Aqua line.
Few residents also requested to construct the metro line on the central verge of the Expressway, so that it could serve both sides of the Expressway equally. But the technical team from NMRC declined this option based on hindrances to the future expansion of the Expressway.
As per the recent news in some of the newspapers, NMRC has finalized Route 1, as requested by us. Hope this new Metro link will act as ‘Life-Line’ for our township and bring relief to residents by linking Jaypee Wishtown with the rest of Delhi-NCR most effectively and conveniently.
