Dear friends,
Please forgive me for digressing a lot in this mail. While I am pained by a lot of happenings in this society, let me also thank three gentle-men who came to my house yesterday —Nitin, Ajit and Sanjeev. They came to tell me about the Jan 22 event related to Ayodhya Ram temple. They gave me a small sachet containing a few grains of rice that signifies the sacrosanct essence of the Ram temple.
Being a Christian by birth (sometimes I consider myself an agnostic), they were initially a bit hesitant to hand over the sachet. But let me assure you, I am indeed proud and blessed to have received it. The beauty of our country is the deep-rooted culture that we share. I shall keep the rice grains close to my heart. It signifies humility, love, respect and togetherness. Lord Rama epitomised the true values of human existence. Be it unity and relationship, respect towards all irrespective of caste, creed and colour, staying away from evil people, forgiving others and the victory of good over evil, Lord Rama taught us all. Rather than unfairly criticising our past political rulers or people from other faiths, let’s work towards the welfare of humanity. Let us accept Lord Rama’s teaching in its purest form’.
