The 2nd edition of the 4-day Meghdutam Annual Festival 2022 was held in F-block, Sector-50, at Meghdutam Park. Spread across two weekends, Meghdutam Rangmanch presented four evenings of music and dance. Day events included workshops, an art exhibition, storytelling sessions including a children’s play and several creative activities for children. Participants from far away sectors, even Sectors 92 and 93, assured the organizers that in coming years it will be an event to look forward to, by the noidaties.
Charcoal and Stencils Workshop (Saturday, 26 Nov)
Conducted by Sunil Chawla and his team from their art institute, more than 30 persons attended his workshop on drawing with charcoal and stencils. This workshop was the most popular as many other visitors thronged the workshop area to follow the techniques being explained by the instructors.
Doodle a Tale Workshop (Sunday, 4 Dec)
Conducted by storyteller and coach, Rituparna Ghosh, for children (6+) and adults, on the art of drawing, not writing, a story which one’s mind visualizes and creates while listening to a story in the work shop. Participants drew images as a story was narrated by Rituparna. Later participants shared their images with each other. Around 15 and odd children and adults attended the workshop.
Build a Nest Workshop (Saturday, 3 Dec)
The third edition of Build a Nest was conducted by the Nestman of India, Rakesh Khatri, an environmentalist, internationally renowned for popularizing nest building. The workshop started with a warm-up fun and interactive game followed by Rakesh Khatri and his associate Nipun Kaushik instructing 60 odd participants on the process of nest making. He shared his life experiences revolving around birds and their environment and conservation practices promoted by Eco Roots Foundation. Nests made out of waste material, tetra pack and organic material were exhibited. (by Shreen Vardhan Sharma, a participant)
Paint Your Shopping Bag (Saturday, 26 Nov)
The second edition of this workshop had around 40 plus children painting on cloth bags in the sunny winter morning in the amphitheatre. Besides allowing their creative energies to flow, this exercise also emphasized the need to use cloth bags instead of plastic or paper bags for shopping.
Community Art Exhibition (Saturday, 26 Nov)
Around 15 artists from various parts of Noida exhibited their paintings in the amphitheatre. Participants of the Paint Your Cloth Bag and Charcoal Workshop and general visitors to the Art in the Park events got an opportunity to enjoy the works of upcoming young artists in our community.
Rangoli in the Park (Sunday, 27 Nov)
Residents of Noida were invited to create Rangoli designs on 4′ x 4′ spaces marked out on one of the concrete pathways in Meghdutam Park. More than 30 persons worked in pairs to create some beautiful rangoli designs.
