Under the mega drive of “52 degree C Never Again” launched by Delhi Govt, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Minister Delhi Govt., picked up S Block ECO Park for inaugurating the drive on July1. This park, maintained by SBWS is a lush green park, having a 40,000-liter water harvesting pit, many trees, lush green grass & many herbal plants. Park was prepared for the event, scheduled to start at 7.30 am. Pits were dug for planting the trees. Around 185 saplings were arranged from MCD & DPGS nurseries & ten “champa” trees were also arranged. There was a huge response to the drive & many residents arrived well in time. Saurabh Bhardwaj emphasized on the need for planting, protecting & nurturing the trees and importance of growing herbal plants at home. Bhardwaj planted the “champa” trees & many residents joined in & planted ten more trees. Herbal plants were distributed to all. “chach” & “lassi” bottles were served to all the participants. It may not be out of place to mention that SBWS got a shield and a certificate last year, on the world environmental day from Minister Gopal Rai. Only five RWAs in Delhi got this award .This year the function was not organised due to Lok Sabha elections.
