“I Will Make Sure That All the Civic Services are
provided To the Residents in an Effective Manner”
After a hiatus of 6 months, finally MCD elections took place in Dec ’22 and our new councillor was elected. As our ritual to introduce the new councillor to the residents I (Ajay Kumar – Edi-
tor, Samvada) met her personally for a face-to-face interview:
Samvada: First of all, please accept warm greetings from Samvada on your victory in the MCD elections as our new councillor. As you already have studied the issues of our colony, can you please tell us about them and your plans to resolve them?
Councillor: Thanks to Team Samvada for kind words and wishes. I have just taken over and trying to meet maximum residents to understand their issues and suggestions to get started with timely resolutions which would be visible soon. As per my understanding following are the major issues which are troubling the Defence colony residents regularly:
• Poor roads in the colony; •Poorest sanitation and cleanliness of colony due to less working or MCD staff as well as no supervision from their leaders; •Need for more street lights to make colony brighter in the nights; •Horticulture issues are delayed; regular pruning and maintenance of old trees required: •Central Nallah project to be completed.
Samvada:Can you please throw light on the action plan you have in mind for our colony.
Councillor: I have already started my meetings with the officials and staff of MCD, Horticulture, DDA and other departments for necessary instructions and procedures to be followed immediately to resolve the issues. My priority would be as follows: •The MCD officials will be met with supervisors to ensure that the streamlining of cleanliness and to ensure all the safai karamcharis are working during the entire working time to clean the colony perfectly.
•The Budgets for new lights and roads is getting ready for this year and would be used professionally to ensure all the roads are repaired or relayed to stay intact for few years.
• I am also meeting the horticulture officials to depute their staff to do audit of all the overgrown trees in the colony.
• We will also coordinate with the DDA to get the central Nallah project completed.
