New Friends Colony

Meet the “Future Educators” in Our Very Own Colony

Model United Nations’ is a simulation for young minds all over the world to understand the aim of the United Nations, an intergovernmental organization. This simulation imitates the procedures followed by the United Nations, to find solutions to real-world problems and maintain peace and security among nations. It is an excellent opportunity for young future diplomats all over the world to experience a glimpse of the real world.

One of these Model United Nations (situated at NFC) was founded by high school students; Harsh Kedia (a 15 years old Grade X student resident of A-59 NFC), Avyam Gupta (a 17 years old Grade XII Science student resident of NFC), and Chaitanya Rungta (a 16 years old Grade XI Commerce student resident of 32, Sukhdev Vihar), all students of The Shriram Millennium School, Noida. The youngsters hosted an online event on 24th and 25th June 2023 which was called the “International Youth Model United Nations; Empowering Future Global Leaders”. This was the first ever International Youth Model United Nations online conference, the object of which was to empower and engage young minds in global affairs. With a strong belief in the power of youth to create a positive change, and that, young voices need to be heard, the trio created the platform to express opinions, exchange ideas, and work collaboratively towards finding innovative solutions.

The Model United Nations hosted multiple committees, namely, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Indian Premiere League (IPL), the Naruto Crisis Committee, the International Federal Association of Football (FIFA), and the International Press, all with their various agendas in mind. They were honoured with the presence of their chief guest, the esteemed Dr Karandeep Singh, India’s Niti Aayog ambassador for SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) 2030, and guest of honour, Rahul Suri, a student motivational speaker, entrepreneur and author.

The event was extremely successful. Of course, it had to be! After all there was a lot of hard work put in by the young and enthusiastic founders, the executive board, all secretariats and the delegates alike, hosting over 80 delegates from all across India and 3 international delegates from Oman as well, creating an impact not only nationally, but internationally too. We wish the trio all the best in their endeavor.
