Meet Neelima Rana – The Ved Van Architect

Have you been to the new theme park Ved van and marveled at it? Or admired the beautiful lights at Shashi Chowk or the luminous artifact installations along the road running from Shashi Chowk to Logix and wondered who could have designed them? Well, the good news is that the architect of all these beautiful things is a resident of our own Sector.

If you are an aware and observant resident of the Sector, chances are that you already know Neelima  Rana – the resident of G 61 and the talented architect of all those things mentioned above. Now, one would imagine that such a successful architect would have slogged years before being able to produce such marvels. But Neelima is a young charming lady.

Ved Van Park, as everyone knows, showcases a variety of attractions including laser and sound shows, as well as wall paintings and sculptures featuring excerpts from the four Vedic literary works: Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and Atharva Veda. The place is home to over 50,000 plants, such as Banyan, Kalpavriksha, and coconut, which have been mentioned in Vedic literature.

The story in her own words is that she was not a gifted talented child but she always wanted to create a space and carve a niche for herself. So when it was time to decide on her career options, she found architecture a good option. Her father, a medical practitioner himself, supported her decision- mistaking the career as an easy option. Later in life, he realized that architecture required as much hard work as required in medicine.

An Apeejay Noida student, Neelima did her college from Gurugram. She fondly recalls how her father made efforts to give her a pick and drop in order to let her attend colleges of her own choice.

When asked about her struggles, she says she has had her own share of struggles. Her line of work is not confined to sitting in the AC offices; it also has to stand in all extremes of weather conditions and getting work done by all categories of people.

While getting the Ved Van project done, she says, the task was made a bit easier since Ritu Maheswari supported the team. There were many hassles as well, though. Sometimes changes had to be made since the allocated budget did not allow it.

Neelima does not forget to mention her husband Sanjeev Sharma who has always been a pillar of support and improvises her ideas as and when required. Neelima has two school-going children.

She was recently felicitated by the ladies of the Sector at their Teej function organized by the ladies forum. Neelima attended it along with her mother and mother in law. Samvada team congratulates her for Ved Van and wishes her success in all her future endeavours.
