The residents of Defence colony are facing various civic issues but they hardly get timely resolution due to slow action from various authorities like BSES, Horticulture, DDA and MCD. The street lights, roads, parks are in bad condition which was highlighted in 20-25 WhatsApp groups floated by local residents. The Service lanes are in pathetic condition as the MCD sanitation staff is only working for 1-2 hours in a day. The builders are keeping the construction material all over on the roads, back lanes. The labourers stay, cook, wash clothes and take bath in open and create filth all over the lanes.
The MCD councillor needs to be more active and be available daily to take rounds in the colony on random basis to check the MCD staff and ensure full time work from them to clean the colony in a better way. The roads need to be resurfaced every year and the councillor must coordinate with MCD officials to get it done. The service lane lights need to be repaired within 24 hours and the coordination with the BSES by the councillor will be useful to get it done as per the complaints filed by the residents.
Lastly, we request our MCD councillor who is from the MLA’s party to work like a “double engine team” to make our colony liveable and enjoyable.
