In this voyage of life, it is interesting to understand how we view life and emotions which define how we behave. As we age, how our emotions get influenced by our age and our experiences.
At our September meeting of the MBCC ladies club, we had an interesting interactive discussion on these aspects of life. Each member had a different interpretation of life. Some viewed it as God’s will and accept that everything is predestined. Another view was that we are here to fulfill our duties. Yet another view was to be self sufficient and have bold and big dreams. It was commonly felt that it is best to stop trying to find a meaning in life and ‘just live’.
Emotions play a fascinating role in how we behave as humans. It is important to understand our emotions as they affect our good mental health. Some emotions like anger, disgust and jealousy influence our minds negatively. Positive emotions like love, courage, make us feel good and happy. Fear is the most powerful of all emotions as it can lead to anxiety and depression.
In our discussion, we felt that emotions stay relatively unaffected as we age. Older people manage their emotions better than younger people. They become more socially adapted to changing circumstances. They think more in terms of what is meaningful in life.
The discussion ended with a sumptuous lunch hosted by our dear members Sudha and Anita
