Massive Water logging In GK2

Make hay while the rain is away

For residents of GK2, it’s these few days when it rains a little more than normal, when we all get to hibernate indoors.  I even entertained the thoughts of learning boating on rapids. Why? Gk2 becomes a live river and not a locality.  It overflows with water touching 2 to 3 feet on many occasions  with even a bit of steady rainfall.

I spent 3 hours standing 100 meters away from my house in E block because the waterlogging in GK2 from an hour of rainfall just made the colony into a river. A locality where who’s who of Delhi lives  and yet its a situation that makes survival tough in monsoons.

My car moved a cm every 10 minutes. The entry to GK2 gets clogged every single time. Absolute lack of any drainage just makes it so dangerous to be in your car. Auto Rickshaws get stuck the moment they enter the colony. Why is that ? Lack of drains or clogged drains or God knows what, or just lack of interest, or chalta hai attitude makes GK2, the worst place to be in monsoons.

Imagine standing in a queue for hours with thousands of vehicles stranded along the way and almost zero action by the MCD, which is responsible for providing safe living to all the restaurants, (sarcasm very much intended). I mean what are we paying taxes for? Is it to just stand in line and waste productive useful hours or to make life better. And herein we are justified in thinking that all our taxes are only being used for corruption and not to make the life of the residents of our area better.

Every monsoon, so many cars are damaged with so much premiums of insurance being wasted and creating great hardships to the lives of normal people. The amount of time wastage, petrol wastage, risk of electrocution for pedestrians, damage to cars is phenomenal. And this is repeated every year. Nothing changes. In GK2 nothing changes. My sincere request to all the authorities  concerned is to have a rapid relook at the problems that we are facing. This state of affairs is deplorable to say the least.
