Holi Milan which used to be a regular feature in our block, for the past more than fifty years was missed for the last three years due to the dreaded Covid.
Last celebration was held on 10 March, 2020 and all hell broke loose after that.
Residents were looking forward to this year’s celebrations quite eagerly Block has undergone a massive change in the last three years. Hundreds of residents have shifted out, many passed away and almost two hundred new families have moved in. These new residents, most of whom have become members of SBWS, were the special invitees in addition to all the old residents.
There was lot of buzz and enthusiasm to attend and celebrate Holi Milan.
The “Holi Mlan” was planned and announced from 10.30 am onwards in the park.
Many residents trooped in, even before time.
SBWS did not disappoint residents. There were massive arrangements for entertainment and excellent “Thandai” & lunch comprising of Dahi Bhalla, Bedwi Poorie, Kachori, Sithaphal Subzi, Alloo Subzi, Pulao, Cholle, Saunth Chutney, topped with Desi Ghee Moong Dal Halwa was served.
Professional dancers gave excellent dance performances, on the theme of “Radha Krishna Raas Leela”. A DJ belted out hit songs throughout the event. Lot of residents of all age groups, danced till they were almost dead tired. All guests were welcomed by showering of rose petals and mixed flower petals by the members of managing and cultural committee.
Many foreigners residing in nearby guest houses joined in.
More than five hundred people attended and enjoyed the hospitality provided by SBWS.
It is pertinent to note that with some uncertainty looming large, the CC team of SBWS had met the Dy. Commissioner, a few days in advance and obtained her approval in principle for holding the function. The rub of effect was enjoyed by some non-descript group, who don’t share any responsibility for maintaining the park.
Lot of appreciative messages and accolades were received by the Managing Committee on holding such a massive and beautiful event.
