The masjid road or RLS road which is connecting from Kotla to Lajpat Nagar and passes through A block is now in the pathetic condition due to various reasons. The residents keep complaining but the condition of this road is now most vulnerable and needs immediate attention and support from various authorities. The following are some of the issues:
1) The road is in worst condition with potholes all over the entire stretch; generally, results in daily accidents and injuries to the residents.
2) The security for this road is not possible as the traffic from nearby colonies keep flowing for 24 hours; some of the big trucks are seen even parked for hours, and days.
3) This road is also used by drunkards who park their vehicles and play loud music for hours to create nuisance to the residents living on this road.
4) The vendors of food and other items are also seen all over the road especially on Friday when the entire road is seen with these vendors after the namaz and leave behind lots of garbage, plastic and other items.
5) The dhalao on this road is always full of garbage as anyone or everyone “throws garbage “on the limited bins which are seen overflowed at all times and garbage getting rotten and scattered by animals all over the road to create the most stinking smell around it.
6) The traffic is quite rash as people like to drive faster on the open stretch and generally results in accidents with major injuries and fights regularly.
How can these issues be resolved to support the residents staying on this road?
• The security of this lane needs to be strengthened by keeping one gate open for 24 hours with a manned security guard who will check all the trespassers and others at the entry points.
• The MCD needs to be coordinated to ensure there are no potholes, no garbage on this road; if required install bigger bins and deploy more vehicles to take away garbage 3-4 times in a day.
• The Police station to be coordinated to provide more beats by the constables on this road and to question any suspect found roaming around. The police should also be asked to shunt away anyone drinking or parking vehicles on this road.
• CCTV cameras to be installed on every 100 meters to ensure 100% security and prompt action by the police in case of any complaint lodged by the residents.
As these residents are also paying all taxes, RWA charges etc., they need the same security and civic services support as provided to the other residents. As per the feedback received from the residents, they keep raising their issues but not getting them resolved. Let’s hope that they start getting more support from the authorities in the near future to enjoy Defence col in the best possible way.
