It is the month of March and in Malibu Town, our Parks are exhibiting the changing mood of nature.
How do we describe this season? Shall we call it Spring or Vasant Ritu as new buds have started blooming and the parks exhibit a riot of colours – yellow nasturtiums and multi colour phlox with petunias! Increase in daylight and warmer temperatures have caused the plants to blossom up and trees are shooting new leaves:
Else, shall we say it is Fall or Patjhar as in our Bol Chal ki Bhasha?
Leaves of trees are turning from green to yellow to various hues of brown and then falling down!
Fall and Autumn are synonymous as both denote the season between summer and winter or winter and summer. For us in Malibu Town at this time in mid-March, it is a Patjhar too. While Vasant ritu ushers in new beginnings, Patjhar symbolises a thoughtful period of reflection implied by changing colours and falling of old leaves.
Keats in his poem An Ode to Autumn calls it a Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness. Let us also reflect upon the words of DODINSKY, the Author of ‘Garden of Thoughts’.
“I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew, Life was a Gift “ – Dodinsky.
