Did you know?
Nirvana Country has ..
Around 17 acres of green area?
16 parks?
140 common green areas? and
6500 trees?
Greens is the USP of Nirvana Country and our malis are our dearest human resource to maintain these Greens! We have many layers of greens, trees, shrubs, hedges, borders, seasonal and lawns, many varieties and sub varieties under each category.
In the extreme weather of Gurgaon, it is a challenge to maintain such an expanse of greens, densely populated with diverse varieties, particularly when we decide to maintain them with organic practices. For this, we need stable force, trained minds and hands in organic practices which is another challenge in Gurgaon. Though we have service providers for maintenance of horticulture, it’s only with a strong will and cohesive working of volunteers that we are able to preserve the green legacy of Nirvana since the builder has handed over the society to NRWA.
To tackle such challenges and streamline horticulture activities of Nirvana, as a calendar activity, “Nirvana Horticulture Committee” was constructed in May 2024 with Poornima Savargaonkar, Priya VK Singh and Manisha Dahl as its members. Since its inception, NHC has taken up the job seriously to train the malis on work and invest in their skill development for organic practices.
To train our malis and supervisors at work, on July 1st, NHC invited a renowned horticulturist from Delhi, Mahesh Mishra, popular with creation and maintenance of greens of many star-rated campuses of hospitality industry. This session was particularly arranged for monsoon related horticulture activities.
An elaborate, five- hour long training session was successfully conducted in the open environment of the AG Big Park. The weather gods favoured us and the ambience of the park added that nature’s touch to the session with chirpy birds, cool breeze and cloudy skies.
The malis were very satisfied with the contents and the way the training was conducted. They shared that they are now more confident to follow the organic and natural horticulture practices and also understood the role of commercial fertilisers.
