Def Col RWA & Club AGM & Elections 2024
Both the RWA elections and AGM and the DC (WA) Club elections and AGM were held on 11th and 10th August. All the 13 EC DCWA members VP and Treasurer of RWA have been elected unopposed. All the 13 AC members and HGs of Club have also been elected unopposed.
Elections were held only for HGS RWA which was won by Promod Chopra and for Club VP which was won by Shaguna Singh and Pranay Soni –Treasurer. Major Ranjit Singh was elected unopposed President of the RWA and Club. He got elected unopposed due to the disqualification of the opposing candidate DN Puri’s proposer’s nomination was rejected due to an error in his form therein. He had by mistake written his club membership number instead of putting the RWA membership number. Unfortunately, this is the second time he has been disqualified. DN Puri was not satisfied with the disqualification and he approached the court for relief and stay on the elections. However, his application like last time was dismissed by the court on the decision that it is an internal matter.
We feel that the dissatisfied nominees should approach the Registrar of societies instead of approaching the court. If the registrar is satisfied with the contention, it usually decides to conduct the elections under its monitorship. In some cases, it requests the district magistrate to conduct the colony elections on his behalf.
