At Grand Omaxe the issue of lift maintenance and upkeep has been discussed from time to time. Residents are anxious in case some unforeseen incident occurs, when the lifts malfunction.
There is a sense of helplessness since this problem has been brought forth multiple times by many tower members on regular intervals. The condition of both lifts used by senior members and children especially, and of course by others as well, is deteriorating day by day.
Whenever the lifts are stuck, the quick-fix repair is done on an urgent basis; they run for a couple of days and again get stuck with some technical glitches. The worry is that only temporary solution is done when residents raise a complaint, on helpdesk or through tower guards. Efforts by residents to highlight this issue of malfunction and to point out the severity of the case, when residents have got stuck, the lifts are not repaired in the right manner. There are no sincere efforts seen or any thoughts discussed of having the lifts checked and fixed in entirety.
Incidents of lift accidents, when come to light from other sectors, should be an alert call to get all the lifts repaired properly, with timely maintenance. It’s over a decade since the lifts are functioning and daily usage all these years justifiably demands thorough repairs.
The Uttar Pradesh Lifts and Escalators Act, 2024, passed in February, was enacted to regulate the installation, operation and maintenance of lifts and escalators in the state. This act was introduced following several lift accidents in high-rise buildings. However, the residents of the society are at a loss to understand — Why this Act is not heeded to and the lift maintenance issue is resolved on an urgent basis?
Considering inaction on this front, all the residents of Grand Omaxe want to caution: If anything happens to anyone in any of the lifts to resident, in terms of physical harm when using the lift, it will be direct ownership of RWA BOM members as they are not able to keep it in right condition even after so many incidents and reminders.
