That we cannot live without domestic help, aka maids, is an understatement. Recently, two cases of maid trouble came to light. In one case, a maid was found sitting and crying at an A-block
market. The RWCS was informed and dispatched a guard to look into the matter. It turned out that the maid was a live-in help at a residence in A-block, and the elderly resident asked the guard to forcibly get the maid back to the house, which was promptly turned down by the guard and the RWCS officials too. The resident alleged that the maid had broken up with a guy who works in the A-block market, which is why she was crying. The word on the grapevine was that the maid was allegedly being overworked or was missing her family. The police were also informed, and the PCR came to talk to the maid but left after some time.
Another story one heard was that a couple who lived in the servant quarters of a resident had a fight that led to the maid consuming some poisonous items. It is alleged that she passed away, and the husband left for his hometown.
There are no more updates on these sad stories, and one wonders if there is any helpline or NGO that the RWCS can inform in these cases.
