Mahavirji Temple Updates

The core committee of United for Mahavirji Mandir organised an Amritvani Paath and Bhajan Sandhya on Feb 21 from 4 to 5.30 pm in the Ram Darbar. The blissful evening was hosted by Kiran Sharma,  a resident of the M block of G.K.1. Kiran ji brought beautiful garlands for the four deities in the darbar. All the ladies, led by one senior lady, recited the Amrit Vani paath. Thereafter, all the ladies danced and sang to bhajans related to Basant Panchami and Mahashivratri. An aarti was performed at 5:30 p.m., and Kiran ji distributed prasad of ladoo, fruits, cool drink, and kheer. Water and mouth fresheners were served throughout the evening.

Maha Shivaratri, on Feb 26, saw a turnout of six thousand devotees between 6 am and 9 pm. Kheer was prepared throughout the day under the supervision of Narayan Panditji and served as prasad. 200 kilos of milk, 25 kgs of samak rice, and 30 kgs of sugar were contributed collectively by several devotees. Fruits and sweets brought as offerings were also given away as prasad. The temple remained open throughout the day. The famous Chaar peher puja commenced at 10 pm. This puja is done four times over, and the entire Shiv mandir is cleaned in between each round of puja. The priests finally got free at 3.30 am after wrapping up the last round of puja.

Jeevantani, an organisation that strives to promote peace through music, celebrated Holi on March 2 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Ram Darbar. They sang melodious bhajans of Holi and served samosas and jalebi as prasad.

On Mar 11, Holi was played with colours after the weekly Sunderkand paath. All the devotees sang and danced, enjoying the festivities. Prasad of samosa and jalebi was served as done every Tuesday.
