The Mahavir ji temple (pahariwala mandir) is seeing a lot more activity as devotees are celebrating more and more festivals in the temple.
TULSI VIVAH was celebrated on November 12 in front of the Radha-Krishan darbar, from 3 to 4.30 pm. The core committee of the ‘United for the Mahavir ji Mandir’ took the initiative of organisation. Contributions, in cash and kind, poured in from the members of the group. The idols of Radha and Krishna and the surroundings were bedecked with beautiful flower arrangements and shringar. A hundred devotees, mostly ladies, danced and sang bhajans of Tulsi ji. The seating was comfortable and well organised. The function culminated with aarti and distribution of prasad consisting of fruit, samosa, milk cake, and homemade kheer. The temple priests were presented with sarees and dakshina.
RAM-SITA VIVAH was celebrated on Dec 6 from 4 to 5.30 pm in the Ramdarbar. The decoration and chairs were provided by the temple. Fifty devotees attended. The ladies danced and sang bhajans related to goddess Sita. The finale was aarti and distribution of prasad consisting of samosa, sooji halwa, and banana. Shashi Bhandari of N 144 organised the halwa and samosas while her friends brought bananas.
MATA KI CHOWKI was organised by the ladies of the ‘Jai Mata Di’ group on December 8, in front of Durga Maa Darbar, from 5 to 8 pm. They used the funds collected over time since the inception of the group about 15 years ago. Jhandewalan mandir party was invited to sing. The temple was decorated with flowers and lights. The idols of goddesses were adorned with new clothes. Adequate seating was arranged.
Dixit Panditji conducted the ‘jyoti prachand’ puja. About eighty devotees attended the chowki, played dandiya, and soaked in the devotional music for two and a half hours, followed by aarti, bhog, and distribution of prasad of fruits and chana-halwa. Thereafter, a lavish spread of chole, shahi paneer, aloo gobhi, dal makhani, sarson saag, dahi- wade, salad, and rice, a variety of rotis, poori, gajar halwa, and moong dal halwa was served in the yagyashala.
Another MATA KI CHOWKI was organised by the ‘Shri Shyam Premi’ group from 7 pm to 12 am on the same evening at the open area, where weddings used to be held, in the temple complex.
