Going back a year, my mother came home from her new yoga class at Tikona Park GK2. She met this lady who said her son did magic. Mom laughed it off thinking the boy must be just pulling out pigeons from under a hat! She said, “Can you believe the boy performing the magic goes by the name of Karan Singh Magic!”
I couldn’t believe my ears. I had been a huge fan of Karan and had closely been following his videos. His magic was no ordinary magic indeed! I pleaded with mom to get me to meet him. She requested his mother and after a few weeks, my wish came true. Karan was in town and they were very nice to invite us over for tea to chat. This is what his parents and he told us about his journey……
Karan has been performing magic since the age of 14. His journey with magic started as a young boy who in the evenings took on performing at birthday parties dressed in a red cape and looking quite a clown. But when you are in love – as Karan was with magic, you turn a blind eye to everything. He did not care how he looked in the red cloak, or he had to go table to table and say – “May I do a magic trick for you”. After being expelled from school on several occasions, for carrying playing cards to perform magic, he got back into school each time. “I spend at least one day a week pleading with the principal of his school to not expel him,” says his mom and explaining to the teachers – Karan is performing a new art format of “Psychological illusion” Please do not kill his passion.
From the school journey, Karan went on to finish his graduation while doing magic gigs on the side. After college his mom said I will give you 2 years to try making a living of magic else we go back to postgraduate studies. Ever since he left college, Karan has lived his dream successfully and performed magic across India, mesmerizing film stars, and cricketers with his performances.
