Valentine’s day has become a contentious issue nowadays. It is not an Indian festival, it is against our culture, public demonstration of affection or PDA is not acceptable etc. are various opinions put forward.
It is true, no doubt. The ‘ L’ word was hardly spoken earlier. Coy glances conveyed all. Meeting alone with a person of the opposite gender was frowned upon.
Things always change with time. Festivals are becoming global. Diwali is being celebrated in the White House and Downing Street. So restraint and tolerance of another’s ways will have to be practised by both sides.
