Now who doesn’t want a good night’s sleep? Whether you are old or young, a housewife or working, well or unwell, you need to sleep. My concern here is not to educate anyone on the importance of sleep but to bring this knowledge to the people living all over the Colony that certain addresses in the colony have been continuously suffering for years due to loud music coming from restaurants and bars.
These restaurants play music that exceeds the guidelines laid out by the noise pollution board. The maximum level permitted is 45 dB at night and 55 dB during the daytime. Despite many meetings with the management of the restaurants and warnings to them of the same by the police, they have not adhered to this. This is gravely affecting the health, especially the senior citizens. Most of them have several health issues and do not get peaceful sleep at night.
This is certainly not the done thing. While some people move to blaring loud music, enjoying their night, others have to suffer by tossing and turning, trying to find solace by counting the hours for the music to stop.
