Lotus Boulevard’s October Celebrations: A Month of Festivities and Unity

October is a month of festivities  The start of the month gives us the birthday of one our great leaders, Mahatma Gandhi. Many notable events took place in Lotus Boulevard this month. On Tuesday, 8 October, Boulevard hosted a vibrant Mata Ki Chowki, celebrating the divine feminine energy. The event began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by soulful bhajans and devotional songs that filled the air with spirituality.

Residents gathered in large numbers, adorned in traditional attire, to seek blessings and to participate in the rituals. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and unity as the community came together to celebrate.

Delicious Prasad was served; the event concluded with heartfelt prayers and an appreciation of the cultural heritage, strengthening the bonds within LB.

On Thursday, 10 October, our society hosted a lively Dandiya Night, bringing the community together for a fun-filled evening of dance and celebration. The event kicked off with vibrant music, as residents dressed in colourful traditional attire took to the floor, dancing to the beats of Garba and Dandiya tunes.

The beautifully decorated venue added to the festive atmosphere and the cheerful décor, contributed to setting the perfect mood. Families, friends, and neighbours enjoyed the energetic performances, tasty refreshments, and a spirit of togetherness.

The night was a huge success, leaving everyone with cherished memories of celebration and joy.

And, on Saturday, 12 October, we had our famous Dussehra event which had Lotus Boulevard residents reenact the famous Ramayana. Numerous residents sat through the whole Ramayana enjoying each and every moment.

The event, as always, had numerous stalls providing us with tasty food from the famous Giani Ice Cream to Delhi’s famous Chole Kulche, we had them all. Boulevard had also put up other stalls which offered trinkets, clothes and holy items for residents to buy.

Another great thing about the Dussehra event was that there was a dedicated place for children to enjoy games like hoop toss, bouncy castle and even a mini-COLUMBUS (which even I did). A great event which ended with an even greater bang with our very own Ram shooting a flaming arrow at the RAVAN, once again showing the win of GOOD over EVIL and the return of order to society.

While many believe that January is the month of new beginnings, for me, that month has always been October, as, for me, the death of Ravan symbolises the end of bad times and the start of a great time.
