Sitting in my cozy corner sipping my hot coffee, far from a distance my ears hear a screaming noise of a girl. Trying to avoid it, I managed to get busy with my work but slowly the voice increased.
more painful and distressed. My heart wanted to go out and figure out the cause but my mind stopped me from interfering, for the world is no more place to help as your actions can be misjudged.
I could not resist the screaming and walked towards the voice many times. I approached and took a U-turn but eventually, I rang the bell. A surprised, tired face with wet eyes gazed at me with a trembling sinking voice, she asked me who I was. I just asked her to disconnect the phone and relax, relax to the situation she has been through. I hugged her and she held me tight just crying. Educated, employed living far away from parents trying to bring all ends together she was managing well but one and was loose. Her rage, anger, and pumping heartbeat made me scared, and fearful of a state. If she did something wrong in that moment of excitement and aggression that moment would never come back. I sighed with relief to put a full stop to this. She thanked me for holding her for a while, to lend my ear to her and my shoulder for her to cry on. I left her abode with a more calm, settled and contented soul.
This incident shook me from the inside. We all are surrounded by such souls who have all but are hollow inside. They need someone to calm them and talk to them. Humans are running for the unseen and we have lost touch with humanity’s love and care we have forgotten the essence of oneness. Why have we become cold to our surroundings? COVID was a pandemic but it diseased us inside out. We live in fairylands thinking that the world is all about us. But it is not. We as humans need to peep out from our lives and look around for someone in need of love and care. Money can buy a lot but not everything. The tables can turn. Maybe our one act can change one life.
