Residents celebrated Lohri traditionally, lighting the bonfire and feeding each other corn, puffed rice, peanuts, jaggery, rewari, and sweets. While there were no lane-wali-Lohri fires seen this year in the sector, one saw small Lohri festivities organised by families either outside their gates or in their driveways. Homes that had welcomed a new member through marriage or birth saw special Lohri festivities. Loud music and Punjabi songs, along with dhol beats, reverberated through the lanes. Some residents held get-togethers for neighbours and friends, and many were seen shaking a leg to the music. Joviality and delight ruled the evening.

The RW&CS organised the Lohri function on the lawns with a poojan and the lighting of the pious fire. Residents took parikrama of the fire and were seen greeting each other warmly. Senior residents soon pulled up their chairs around the fire. Packets of moongphali, rewari, and popcorn were distributed to all present. As the DJ started playing Punjabi songs, some professional dancers dressed in traditional, colourful attire buoyed the atmosphere. Soon some ladies were seen dancing to the beats. Club 26 Celebrates Lohri
Club 26 celebrated the Lohri festival. The increasing popularity of the club’s functions can be seen easily on the day of Lohri, as after a long rainy day and, on top of that, a severe cold wave, that day could not stop the members from attending the function. The venue got changed at the last moment because of the rain, and very soon the Aravali hall got full of its capacity. A troupe was called for singing and dancing, and the residents were having a gala time enjoying the dances. A group dance performance was also given by the ladies’ club’s members, and that was fabulous. All the participants were in the best Punjabi attire, and their jewellery and the long, decorated prandis added glamour. Residents who were sitting at the back also started dancing and were seen enjoying the cultural evening. The food lovers were enjoying hot samosas and pakoras with hot beverages. Lip-smacking food was also enjoyed at Vindhyachal.
