S Block welfare Society celebrated “Lohri” the traditional winter festival with great gusto & cultural fervor on 13th Jan.24.
The whole ECO park was decorated with kites & buntings in all hues. A large stage was set up with back drop etc.
A huge bonfire, decorated with rangoli & flowers was set prepared.
Programme started sharp at 6.30 pm with live singing by artists from Delhi Govt.’s Punjabi Academy.
Chief guests for the evening were Saurabh Bhardwaj & our councilor, Shikha Rai, who arrived well in time for lightning the bonfire.
Bonfire was lit sharp at 8 pm, with the chanting of mantra’s, jointly by both the dignitaries, SBWS President & other members of MC.

In the meantime, “Giddha” & “Bhangra” dancers also arrived from the Punjabi Academy, courtesy, Saurabh Bhardwaj, minister for culture & tourism, Delhi Govt.
The park reverberated with the folk music, Bhangra numbers & huge bonfire burning in full glory, in the back ground.
Dinner, comprising of “Sarson Ka Saag”, “Makki di roti”, Rajma Chawal, Laccha Paratha, Salad etc. topped up with “Gajar Halwa” was served on complimentary basis to more than 450 members of SBWS. Piping hot tea was served from 6 pm onwards. Though it was biting cold but members & residents enjoyed the evening & food with full “Josh”. Lot of compliments were received from the happy members.
