Lohri celebrations took place in Anand Niketan on 12th January at the Lohri park opposite Tandon nursing Home. The celebrations were held 6:30 p.m. on wards and more than 310 residents participated in it. Residents had turned up with families to enjoy and celebrate Lohri.
A DJ had been arranged, who belted out fast pace numbers much to the delight of all present. As soon as Lohri was lit at 7:00 p.m. people started offering peanuts, gajak and rewari to the holy fire. All these had been distributed amongst the residents beforehand. People started dancing around the fire while offering prayers.
While the singing and dancing continued, others made a beeline for the sumptuous food on offer. Hot soup on the chili night was a welcome delight. This was followed by makki ki roti with sarson saag along with Puri, roti, matar paneer, makhani daal and all this was topped up with gajar ka halwa.
Like every year, the Lohri function was a hit with all the residents who not only enjoyed mingling with each other but could be seen exchanging warm pleasantries as well.
