Residents turn up in large numbers
Like every year, this year too, Lohri was celebrated with gusto in Anand Niketan. As is the tradition, it was celebrated in Lohri Park opposite Dr Tandon. The residents gathered around 7pm in the Lohri Park to offer traditional revri and moongfali to the holy fire. The Lohri pyre was lit and after traditional Pooja offering, revri and peanuts were distributed amongst those present.
Hot piping soup was served to those arriving at the venue and a sumptuous dinner awaited everyone after the Lohri celebrations. More than 300 residents participated in the celebrations that typically mark the end of winter. However the winter has actually just set in.
Residents both old, young and children danced to the DJ music and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A sumptuous dinner of sarso ka saag and makki ki roti along with paneer sabzi and daal. Delicious hazar jalwa completed the last delightful touch to the evening.
ANRWA thanked the residents for the overwhelming response and making the Lohri Celebrations a huge success and that the residents can look forward to many such fun filled events in the coming year.
