The festival of Lohri holds great significance as it marks the harvest of Rabi crops and the end of winter days, welcoming the sun to the northern hemisphere. It was celebrated in Hamlet on 13 January 2023 at 7 PM with much enthusiasm and zeal.
A big bonfire was lit by the elders with assistance from the staff in the amphitheatre. The community had arranged for a table on the side, having peanuts and ‘rewaris’ for the people to offer to the holy fire. It is believed that offering anything to the holy fire on Lohri brings good luck and prosperity.
Residents decked up in colourful attire circumambulated the holy fire, saying prayers, making offerings & welcoming the longer days of warmer temperatures. There were ‘Dhol Wallas’ who added charm to the festive mood.
The management had also stationed a housekeeping staff with fire extinguishers in case of any eventuality.
