The Program Was Very Exciting & Colourful As Always
Punjab’s famous festival Lohri was celebrated in the club after 3 years with full gusto.
Preparations in the club had started a month ago. A professional troupe, dholwaala and a new caterer was hired.
Female members of club were so excited about the program that they hired a choreographer to do giddha dance.
The celebrations started in the beautifully decorated lawn. A traditional touch was given to the lawn by placing khatias, making selfie point which attracted lots of people.
The event started with Tambola and the guests got busy playing and enjoyed hot coffee in that extreme chilly evening. The stage program started with a song by Sumit Sachdev who rocked the stage by his performance and everyone present praised his performance.
Bonfire was lit and everyone offered rewris, popcorns in the holy fire taking rounds around it. Thereafter the professional troupe started its performances. They all were in Punjabi costumes and danced on Punjabi folk songs. The ladies performed giddha dance and were dressed up in phulkari dupattas with salwar suits and with prandas to give it the Punjabi touch.
Performers also performed JAAGO along with the ladies, which is a very old tradition of Punjab. All guests enjoyed the function sitting around the fire eating the prasaad packets of peanuts, rewris and popcorns.
The entry to the event was ticketed. Some visitors were heard cribbing about the entry ticket as they did not want to eat & only enjoy the function. There were some who complained about cold dishes and waitting for Makki Ki Roti. However, the program was very exciting and colourful & Prez Khosla made sure that fresh hot food was brought from the restaurant kitchen & added to the dishes.
