2023 First day first SBN meeting was celebrated as Lohri and Makar Sankranti. Cold winter had spread quietly everywhere. The weather was perfect for campfire so, the SBN planned for a party. Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary took the lead and the team joined to make beautiful flower rangoli with marigold and Champa flowers.SBN Veena Goel arranged snacks like moongdal,rewadi,gazak and popcorn.SBN Madhu Chauhan took charge of DJ the music that was very much appreciated.
6 January at 4 pm the scenario of Sector 36 Community Center was a bit different. Ladies wearing colourful Punjabi suit and dupatta,beit fulkari, bandhani, lehrariya or any style was giving a tough competition to one another. The atmosphere was full of fun, happiness and emotions. It seemed as everyone wanted to enjoy the true spirit of Lohri.
I welcomed all present and introduced the brief sketch of the schedule. I also declared 2 resolutions of SBN 2023. First resolution was to increase the membership number to 100. Secondly, to focus on women’s health and welfare of the sector. I advised members to take precautions regarding corona. I invited SBN Veena Goel to share the mythology behind celebrating Makar Sankranti.After SBN Veena Girl’s talk all present one by one shared how the festival makar Sankranti is celebrated in different parts of India. Actually this is the beauty of our culture to enjoy diversity with positive approach.Rajasthan ,Uttarpradesh, Gujrat and Kerala flavour each was unique.
Now the time was for campfire. First there was Puja of lohri offering Prasad and the ladies wished one another. In a circle beautiful gidda and Bhangra were performed. Samiti president R. K Singh joined with his staff. He appreciated the well organised program. During the Masti of music and dance members were offered mouth-watering goodies.SBN Madhu Chauhan offered tea with a peculiar style of chaiwala. God has been kind enough to give us chance to dance,sing and laugh together.some ladies were seen with tears of joy in their eyes.SBN Renu sang a lohri song that brought smile in the air.
