Art is way of recognising oneself. It is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness. We had the opportunity to experience this happiness by at tending Lippan Art workshop held in our society, Silvercity, conducted by our resident Monica Singh.
Monica, residing in Tower 3/03 Silvercity, is a freelance artist with an experience of 25 years in the field of art. She is a graduate in commercial art and has participated in various group art exhibitions in AIFACS and Artizen art gallery in Delhi. She conducts various art workshops also. She conducted the workshop for Sivercity residents on 24–26 April at her apartment. It was a great experience learning; creating something which we never did before. Lippan art is a traditional mural craft of Kutch, Gujarat, India.
It was fun learning the techniques on how to create texture, roll and pinch the clay; mirrors on Lippan art glitter and glimmer with change in light. This art makes you feel the earth in your hands. No previous painting or craft experience is required to make this form of art. All the required art supplies were provided to us.
All the attendees – Nandini, Anamika, Preeti, Deepali and Deepti – were successful in creating beautiful Lippan art pieces. The overall experience was very delightful and everyone was elated by the artworks. This workshop was for everyone to experience the power of art. Such creativity offers a meditative experience and invites a deep sense of relaxation and well being!
We hope to attend more such workshops in future too.
