Suggestion to Tackle Dogs
Regarding the article on dogs, especially stray dogs, in Samvada (October), I have an input which could help our sector. About 15 yrs ago, there was a big nuisance of stray dogs including in our society, Kailash Dham. We then came across an article in the newspaper about one Sanjay Mahapatra, who specialised in catching stray dogs, sterilizing and training them with only a token contribution. His team came and caught 3 dogs of KD and 10 of the Central Park. They kept them in his dog shelter in Sector 49, did sterilizing and training, and brought them back.
The result was beyond anyone’s imagination. The dogs stopped biting and, in fact, became the additional watchmen for the sector and the society. Our contribution was a small cooler costing Rs 1500, which our society donated.
A well-known person in Noida, Mr. Mahapatra has 5 shelters in Noida; at one time he was looking after nearly 400 stray dogs. I feel it will be worth the effort on the part of the sector to approach him again for help. His contact number is: 9818048398.
