‘Lets Deklutter’

Reduce, Re-Home, Rejoice

The objective of “Lets Deklutter” WhatsApp groups s fast catching up and hope by now most of you must be aware of this concept.

Lets Deklutter helps to declutter new or pre-loved/used items (must be in good condition) which we think may be of use to someone else but you, at a nominal or zero price, eventually helping both the buyer (by purchasing at a much lesser price) and seller (creating space and getting a price for idle item). It is purely a non-profit and non-commercial initiative.

With only one group in December 2020 in Gurgaon, we are now present in over 85 cities PAN India having more than 21000 members. To keep these groups focused and successfully managed, 40 volunteers have come forward to give their time and energy to this initiative. Lets Deklutter makes extra effort by hand-holding the senior citizens and helping the members who are relocating by giving them priority. Without our amazing volunteers, Lets Deklutter wouldn’t have reached these heights.

In these three and a half years, we have been able to bring a vast change in opening up people’s mind towards Reuse. We are proud to share that our efforts were recognized with the Sustainability Innovator Award (SIA), given to us in September 2023 for our exceptional contribution and dedication to sustainability within a short span of 3 years.

It’s amazing to see how this idea of putting unwanted stuff to use, is loved by people. Nidhi, a resident of Silver Oaks- DLF 1 shared her experience after using the declutter group to sell her unused and used household items during a house renovation. She shared how she was able to earn extra cash, and experience space maximization as clearing out unused items created more space, making it easier to navigate and organize the renovation process. It led to less clutter thereby creating a more organized and visually appealing living space. Also, this way of de-cluttering is definitely eco-friendly: selling items instead of discarding them promotes recycling and sustainability. Another resident Renuka Sehgal of G block, DLF 1 says “ Have been part of the Deklutter group for many months. It is a very useful group. I have been able to get a lot of friends & relatives on to it in their respective colonies. It surely helps to Deklutter. What may not be useful for one may be useful for the other. The prices too being low, is very helpful. Personally, I have been able to pick up many things, plus decluttered my stuff too.” The age and generation we are living is full of so many environmental issues. Also, we end up spending so much money on household items and so easily get bored with it. Shubha, a G block resident of DLF 1 rightly says “ Declutter group has been a life saviour for me! I moved to my farm, redid the small cottage, built a showroom cum Granary and then went on to make a 2 bedroom resort. And I had so much fun buying everything, and I mean everything from furniture to fans to lights to crockery, 3 fridges, gas burner, antique pieces, vases, some lively wine glasses, Chai glasses, mugs, garden chairs, and so much more fun stuff. It has been so exciting to get the best stuff at such reasonable prices without having to step out to the markets and malls and get utterly confused and tired! Some of my friends call me the queen of declutter groups! Kiran, it’s an awesome initiative and I can’t thank you enough for starting this :)”
