On BFA Founder’s Day another Sankalp Centre
On 30 January, the occasion of Founder’s Day 2024, BFA started a new Sankalp Adult Literacy Centre at Sadarpur, Sector-45, Noida, to help Analphabetic women become literate. BFA wanted to help women like Rani Praveen become literate, confident and have an alternate source of income.
Rani Parveen, 28 (name changed), visited the Sankalp Gejha Centre in April 2023. Observing other women at the centre, she expressed her interest in enrolling and learning. She had never attended school due to socio-religious restrictions in her community. This is true for thousands of young women migrating to cities and metros for livelihood and struggling to cope with their present day demands.
Rani wanted to become independent and acquire a skill that could be monetized. She went to a nearby Free Tailoring Centre to enhance her skills. The centre refused her because basic reading skills were a prerequisite for completing the course.
Within eight months of enrolling with BFA Sankalp Centre, Rani became literate and could realise her dream of becoming a certified tailor at the same Tailoring Centre.
Sadarpur Vilage, Sec-45 Noida has a large migrant community from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and even Nepal residing there for livelihood and the new Sankalp Centre will cater to them. We invite you to join hands with us in our endeavour to give back to society. For more information, please reach out to us – Lata Agarwal +91 85272 72266 or Hina Lakhani +91 97117 65695
