Lately Our Club Swimming Pool Has Lost Its Glory

Swimming in summers especially for children is fun and delight. I can vouch for that as my 9-year old daughter waits for the evening when she can go for swimming.

Our club pool is considered one of the best pools in Delhi where you would find people of all ages enjoying a dip in the water.

But lately the pool has lost its glory. With ill-maintained infrastructure like the baby pool which is not cleaned properly. The tables and chairs which used to have covers are filled with dust and no one to clean them .Guards clothes are hanging behind bars, children getting hurt due to broken tiles at shallow end. I would not give false info as how the water is being cleaned in the pool as I’m not a technical person.

The food bar looks shabbier than a sarkari canteen again filled with bathing mugs & broken utensils. No menu which used to be there earlier is placed. Sad to see such detoriating state.

When the management was questioned they started passing the buck on the other committee member. Here it is where we go wrong. To receive credit we even fight with others but on the other hand if something is to be rectified we shirk away our responsibilities. Lastly it comes us residents who are not adhering to the rules to be followed inside the pool like

NO Diving -Parents are not listening to the guard even after being requested. They let their children to dive. And mind you there is proper board placed which says NO DIVING. This can result is a serious injury to a fellow swimmer.

Children below 5 in Big pool – Children below five are not allowed in the big pool even if the parents are with them.

Members need to understand these are toddlers who can endanger their life even after you being very very careful .Secondly, if a safety surprise inspection takes place, the swimming pool license can be cancelled. Think about the safety of your child and get him to the big pool when He /She is ready.

Playing ball in the pool – Yes, great game but I urge participants to play when the pool is empty and not when it is crowded as it might hurt or inconvenience to fellow swimmers.

Lastly, I would like to again request the sports management committee of the club to look into this and make rectification instead of passing the buck. You have been elected as Administrative committee members to improve facilities of the club so I am sure you would look into this.
